i have been going to cheerzone in owensboro for the past few weeks to learn to do the back handspring. never was able to do it but always wanted to learn. i want to learn to do multiple handsprings, twists, fulls, and what ever excites me. need a lot of conditioning to do these. legs strength and power, flexibility, trust and confidence. if you lack any of these, better acquire them before you try. start out on a trampoline type surface before moving to more stiffer/firmer floor conditions, your hands will thank you for this. of course always try to learn from a qualified instructor. like those at cheerzone in owensboro, kentucky. they have been more than hospitable and accommodating to my wish to learn the back handspring. oh, by the way, this is called a rezi pit (i believe that is how that is spelled) that i am landing in. it gives you the cushion to land your maneuver with out a hard landing. i am also springing of the end of a tumble track. a long narrow trampoline runway that is stiffer than the ordinary backyard trampoline but springy enough to give that extra push off. why am i learning to do the back handspring? not sure really. always liked physical fitness type stuff. as a kid we tried all kinds of crazy things, but not this, 34 years old and maybe want to learn before i can't physically do it, maybe a mid-life crisis, who knows. oh by the way, did a face plant in the resi someways thru the video due to my wrist starting to get sore and tired, just thought i would point that out before someone else does. will show other videos as i advance. stay tuned

  • Great Job Cliff!!! You chose one of the best gyms in the world too!!! I'm 28 and on the Open International Co-ed Team and absolutely love it!!! And I still tumble and won't stop till my body tells me too! A standing tuck is usually easier for men to learn, but nice job on the back handspring!!

  • arr that really cool n gd i start my 1st gymnastics 2 day n im wel sceard lol keep up the gd work x

  • Good job! I've done backhandsprings as a child, and now approaching 30 I don't think you'll be seeing it ever again!

  • Awesome job dude! That's been my goal for forever but I have a huge fear of breaking my neck. I don't think I'll ever be able to do it without a spotter:(
