The Potrait of A Lady - based on a novel by Henry James, directed by Jane Campion.
Isabel Archer - wanted by a lot of men, but interested in none. She will rather have freedom and experience life than to marry. But then she runs into Madame Merle who soon becomes envious of Isabel's free nature and decides to introduce her to the devious Gilbert Osmond whom she soon marries. He takes everything away from her with his psychological abuse and everyone who loves and cares for Isabel watches her become more and more hard, cold and unhappy.

It was really difficult to tell this story, but in a way I think that's ok because this video should really just inspire you to watch the movie. It's a beautiful movie. It's one of those movies where after you've seen it, you want to see it again right away. I've studied it a lot while making this video and I still wanna see it again as soon as possible. It has also inspired me to get the book. :-)

Anyway...I hope you'll like it. It's very raw and heartbreaking, but for me that's the beauty of this movie. It doesn't hide away the hard facts of life and love - though there is hope.. there is someone who can love you for who you are rather than for what you own.

@Lavendel59 @RoLorenz please, can you explain the end ... :( that it is on her mind :) everybody is saying that the love theme is opened very subtle through this film. As it is. This love to Ralph, yes? Because the stop in front the door seems like she decides to be the same as before, before marriage, to be alone... this turn to the garden did not says that she is ready to be loved by him (who was waiting her during these years... do not remember name)
