I agree bthornrPL...Hart realized he had accomplished something greater than attaining a passing grade on a 2 or 3 hour exam. He had acquired the discipline, fearlessness, knowledge and mindset of a budding legal scholar; something no letter grade could ever reflect.

  • I always wondered what the symbolism of that scene was...Did he just not care what his grade was (At that time) Or was he letting go of Law School?

  • Lindsay Wagner - so beautiful.

  • @Harpfrmhel Thanks for yur input!!

  • @rkjeldgaard Hart was the brightest student in the school. The symbolism behind it is that he's so smart, that he doesn't need to worry about his grades.

  • I'm a 1L and I have exams in three weeks. I needed to watch this scene to know that there is more to life than grades. I can't wait to sit on a beach like he did and just let go.

  • I completed my 1L year this past May and that's NOT how myself nor my fellow classmates acted when our grades were posted. Everyone sent texts to eachother informing one another grades were posted. We were anxious to see what we made. Then again I attend a school that follows a strict C-curve, so we aren't afforded the luxury of going to a beach throwing our grades in to the ocean. We need to know if we made it back.

  • When she said, "A piece of paper and I'm free", I think it made Hart realize that he didn't need a piece of paper to feel, that he was free in that moment, in front of the beach and with a beautiful woman by his side, so his feelings in that moment changed, and he realized that there was more to life than a passing grade or his knowledge of that...He realized in that moment that it didn't matter what his grade was, but that he was happy and that that's all that mattered, to just let go and live.

  • @GMAN95120 So so true.

  • yeah i also don't get how they manage to portray december on a massachusetts beach without too much consideration. damn i wish law school was still Just Dollaz
