  • Hey Mike,

Yeah, I got suckered into trying it. Unfortunatly, although the packaging is "throwback" the soap is the current version that's out. Totally disappointed.

  • i wish she was my mother she would prob wash my mouth out with that soap everyday

  • @gtimissy Well first thing is that the bars are wrapped in the same white paper as Pacific Force. (mabey because it is an eight pack. ) I don't remember the eight pack in the seventies. I was expecting to see the original blue packaging. The bars also have the carved out back contour and that is not original. Perhaps the only thing correct is the way Coast is engraved on the bars and printed on the package. I don't have a bar of Pacific Force on hand to compare the scent.

  • Hey Missy, what about this Coast throwback that was just released? I am looking at it and wondering what about it is retro? It looks like the same thing as Pacific Force.

  • My eyes have been opened!

  • Who uses bar soap anymore?

  • I didn't realize of the change to Pacific Force until one day my wife bought the new brand and put it in the shower. After a couple of days I started iching and my eyes started burning. Still not knowing why I started to ask what has changed. Guess what? COAST! I was able to find the original for a while, but it has now run dry. When I was able to switch back my iching and eye burning went away. Why did they stop making the original? I am now in search of a new soap!

  • @formula37 The packaging is not throwing me off in the least. The smell and the lather are very different from years ago. Thanks @rob3754 for the followup

  • Missy is correct. Changes in the base soap formulation from the original Coast product were made by Dial to appeal to a younger demographic and to cut costs to enable price reduction while maintaining operating margins.

As one of the original Coast formulators in Process Development at P&G from 1972-1974 (when it was Project B-88), the changes in the base soap and perfume accounts for the differences in lathering and the user's overall experience.
