  • this wasn't racist, the rascals were way ahead of their time in whites and blacks being friends. this was the 30's for christ sake. political correctness has cost this country it's sense of humor.

  • You cannot judge people of the '20s and '30s by standards of today. PERIOD. History is History, these were great films.

  • @kaadauwgg ??

  • A follow-up comment: Mama's Little Pirate had what I consider cannabalism in it. But it was never banned. I bet if the pirate were black, that short would have suffered the same fate as Borneo.

  • @everywherechainsaw Damn right. Nothing but censorship.

  • @philipatoz

Yes Philip it's funny but at what cost?

The Negro watching this is bound to feel hurt.

    That's the cost.

I'm not willing to pay that price. The feelings of another person.

  • bill cosbys a racist bastard

  • can bill cosby please die - so he can relinquish rights, and everyone can watch the little rascals again - "racist bastard"

  • can bill cosby please go kill himself - so he can relinquish rights, and everyone can watch the little rascals again - "racist bastard"

  • This stuff was racist when they made it. Lots of jokes, like Stymie's feet turning around, was a stock prop when portraying black people. We were dumb, lazy, and quick to frighten. Hal Roach gave his black actors better characterization than many film producers of his day, but he still could not depart from that "laughin at the coons" mindset that permeated Hollywood.

Some cartoonist of this area (the 30's) eventually moved away from this type of humor seeing how destructive it was.

  • Come on, people - lighten up. This is some funny stuff! I love it when Spanky's pop thinks the actual Uncle George is upstairs and he goes up there to kick his butt - WRONG! And the combination of innocence and fear in Spanky's face while he's talking to "Uncle George" is absolutely priceless!

  • Does anyone have the episode when Alfalfa drinks a mixture that causes his stomach to grow and when he falls, he burps it out which takes out a wall.
