The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in south China is using cloud seeding to ease the drought there. The area is seeing its first spring rain. A welcome respite after months of drought. Guangxi's meteorological bureau carried out 29 cloud-seeding operations. The dry spell has been eased in most areas, and 32 townships even reported downpours. Farmers are wasting no time getting ready for spring ploughing. The rainfall has also raised the water level of the rivers. That includes famous tourism destination, Lijiang. The forecast says more rain can be expected in the coming two days. But experts say for the northwestern part of Guangxi, which has suffered most from the drought, it's likely to have little effect.
