Originally Scottish, though taken up in Ireland more recently. There are several versions in the Bodleian Collection (ca. 1850-1899). Normally sung in a minor key, but I like the more optimistic tone of the major.
Hi Morris very good my friend. This was sang on an album by the Minor Birds a North West Folk Band and the music was changed slightly. I have posted my version based on how they sang it. I wasn't sure of the words at the time as I did it from memory and made the chords up. Great Video my friend 5 stars.
