Actually, I placed the microphone on the surface of the planet before I detonated the implosive device. The crickets at the end are actually floating in what's left of the earth's atmosphere...but thanks for the physics lesson.

The story/movie that this was to be part of was written by a 15 year old. There was an alien who looked like a guy with a Gorilla mask. The aliens home world was becoming depleted of life force. The alien requested the help of an earthling to save his planet. The earthling was indifferent and unhelpful to the alien. The earthling youth concludes that alien is actually his father. But then that is proved incorrect in the final seconds of the movie as the alien's home world implodes.
