  • @Balgore8 It depends on who you ask. Some woods are really to easy work with based on the hardness and those are the ones I focused on in my area. Woods that are hard require better technique (ability to generate more dust and heat) which can be "unlocked" by applying the right pressure and rotational speed. A person with perfect technique can use most types of wood. Most person can only get the method to work with ideal wood. Also wood weathers, so a well weather oak might work quite well.

  • Does the type of wood REALLY matter? Are all woods functional?
