I wouldn't hesitate to say that Sean jones is, out of all the people I have heard in modern trumpet playing lately, the only one that has the purest and most natural tone. Its soooo guttural, and rich, but dark when he wants it to be. His melodies are enticing as they are stifling. He is probably my favorite to come out in the last 10 years. Not to say there aren't great ones, I think he just nails everything he plays.

It's the truth. I opened for this guy's up in Jersey at the William Patterson jazz room, and he tore the roof off it. Crowds really respond to what he does, which cannot be said for a large number of the New York pros. He left me after that show thinking real hard about the level of where I was at compared to that of a true performer.

Yea man. I took a few lessons from Sean and he showed me his iTunes library. The amount of stuff he had on there is more than I could listen to in my lifetime. He knows his stuff cold from all the greats (any instrument, not just trumpet players) in the past and thats what makes him such a phenomenal player.

He is a really cool guy. He came to my high school and worked with us. We gave a concert with him later that night. Amazing soloist and great trumpet player

First time that I've ever heard of Sean Jones also. Unbelieveable, because he's truly a great trumpet player. Clifford Brown is the first player who comes to my mind also when I hear him play, but he has a lot of depth and variety to his style. Excellent!

I agree about Roger Humphries' drumming. The *only* album I've heard him on is "Cape Verdean Blues" by Horace Silver - a good primer for Roger Humphries.

The name of the tune is "Soul Eyes" John Coltrane did an amazing version of this. Sean Jones does a great job as well, I love the Willy Wonka quote at 5:57!!!!
