This is a video of me and a buddy of mine making a casting. We used a small bench top furnace that he bought to melt the aluminum. In this video I add the last ingot of aluminum to the charge before we pour.

This was in the middle of January in Ohio in 2009. It was about 10 degrees out side and about 30-40 inside the garage when we started.

  • Hey man the gas bothe near the furnace its a very dangerouse thing.

    you know that rigth!!!

(Boomm) if it heats to mutch

  • Actually, as I said in the description this was shot in the dead of winter and the temperature in the garage was about 40-50 degrees... Also the amount of refractory used to line that little furnace was enough that the surface temperature of the metal jacket was only about 150 degrees or so. No where near enough radiant heat to worry about the propane bottle on the floor.
