How many people will die waiting for much needed medications to fight HIV/AIDS?
What is ADAP?
The AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) is a Federal/State program that pays for life-saving AIDS drugs for low-income Americans. Nationwide, ADAPs serve over 165,000 people, accounting for one third of people on AIDS treatment in the U.S. Unfortunately, the need for these programs expands every year, as more and more people become infected and diagnosed with HIV/AIDS; each year thousands of newly diagnosed HIV patients turn to ADAPs because they cannot afford their medicines.
The ADAP Solution
AHF and other AIDS advocates have worked to secure increased contributions from AIDS drug companies to help alleviate the burden of drug prices on ADAP. However, these efforts will not be enough to ensure that ADAP can provide treatment to all those who need it right now.
i honestly do not feel sorry for someone who has contarcted the hiv virus threw the meaans of a riskly life style. i mean its one thing if a person was born with it, they didnt have a choice in the matter. but a person who failed to use protection and/or used a dirty needle to shoot up on drugs doesnt have my smypathy. there was a window of excape for them which was CHOICE! just ask God for forgiveness and make peace with your desicions.
