cores is a glamor marketing deal, like ive said before the only progress AND BETTERMENT desktop cpus can make from now on is in the energy efficiency department for example a 10w TDP, 3 GHZ, desktop cpu that doesnt even need a fan, would be a revolutionary breakthrough, other than that cpu companies don't really have much to offer in terms of new and improved for their marketing , if desktop processors dont lose the power drainage factor people are gonna start losing reasons to buy a desktop

Not a mac user, but octo core mac is there already a long time. Also mac looks more pro unless you want to spend allot of research and money to put together a pc.

dude u dont want a workstation u wanta gaming machine. the xeon is worse than a p4(for gaming). get the upcoming 79oi sli mobo with the upcoming qx9850(probably an 8 core), 8 gb of ddr3

You're full of crap.
I've got a quad-core computer. It's ability to run multiple high-resource programs simultaneously (without a hitch) is a huge improvement over single or even dual core computers.
