Reno company Snowpeak Energy has created a next-generation solar panel at half the price of a standard panel, while producing 3 times the electricity.

This story is the first time it's been photographed for the public to see.

  • This is 3 years old video the fact of the matter is that

solar panels are expensive and it takes 10 years to pay back

the only option is to build your own solar panels in just 1/10 of the price

  • Duke Energy probably bought them out..just like the 100 mpg carburetor that was invented and never put into production, hush hush money to go away..

  • @MALEXIOU1 All the designers/engineers are retired in an island somewhere. The patent for this device has been bought and shelved by an undisclosed buyer.

  • @ZeerosFate that is good!

  • where i can buy one ! Did they produced it or not!

  • Good advertising would be ....." Wind resistent design "

  • I think real cells are too cheap to bother with that

  • to bad the panel cost over 1500 dollars, while the current panels still costs over 1200 dollars. so solar energy for average people is still nothing more than a dream, due to costs of one panel. yea u can buy cheaper less efficiency ones or broken ones on ebay.

  • 3 YEARS AGO!!!! WHERE IS IT NOW?

  • @alifelesordinary this is true, but they mentioned that the PV cells are on chips, cooling chips isnt too difficult, but will draw some power... and they wont share all their secrets, they want to make money.. :)

  • @frackcha Heat is energy and using it could be advantageous, however they didn't mention any plan to deal with it at all.

  • @alifelesordinary a whole year later :P as i understand it, heat is simply raw energy, so why not just use it...

  • @NordicRick I thought about that long ago (3d cells to capture more light) but I already knew it wouldn't work.. light does bend easily so one piece will always be in shadow, lenses or not. the next one I will have mirrors.. and still wont put out over what the current solar cells can.. its really quit simple, we need a more effecient cell, not redesign the flat panel :-\

  • Question, does the company that manufactures them use them at their own facility?

  • What's the cost ?

  • MY NAME IS ALDO, that's fine, where the shopping and MUCH, I LIVE IN MEXICO, THE QUESTION solar cells are also included my email e-mail lapalomaaudioproducciones@hotmail.com

  • looks like a high tech coffin

  • rain?

  • @badatcards Didn't you hear? They sold these all over the world the summer of 2009 and now no one depends on oil.

  • The shape is strange there is no way to fully utilize more than half of the cells at one time.

Also the life of the plastic lens exposed to the sun probably not great.

3 to 4 time the amount of power compared with what?

This is not a new idea but this looks the worse design by far cost will also probably be higher than similar power PV panels.

Just took a look at their website guess this is more of a scam than anything else.

  • Where are they now?

  • @NordicRick Many people have thought about this many times over.
