This is Spike Jones & His City Slickers. Recorded in the early 50's. Part of an album of 1920's songs that he was commissioned to do for RCA Victor.
-
He was a very good composer, a lot of the music played in his films were composed and produced by him.

@bassgurl60 Its Spike Jones, he takes songs and adds more "instruments" to the arragement.

Spike Jones is god. Crazy tune with a ridiculously tight band.

@JubalCalif Well Wilson was a broken man. And even though the jazz age had a short life it sure was fun.

Yep, ol' Jay Gatsby (nee Gatz) had a life that was really the cat's pajamas...it was the bee's knees...up until garage owner Wilson made swiss cheese out of his innards with his handy .38 special. Poor Jay...even if Wilson hadnt' sent him to meet his Maker, the upcoming Wall Street crash & repeal of Prohibition would have made mincemeat out of his grandoise plans. Jazz Age indeed... :(

@999Phineas LOL Gatsby had it good.

This song just takes away my pain and sadness. I swear it's fucking magical. Something about the 20s...

I second that emotion! This song always gives me "HAPPY FEET" too whenever I have the good fortune to hear it! Spike Jones & his boys sure knew how to swing! :-)
-
@bassgurl60 I'm pretty sure this version is Spike Jones.
