This is a video of Slitaz Linux 3 in Virtual Box. After installation, it boots from GRUB to Desktop in 11 seconds only! There are two mouse cursors in the video because it was recorded from a virtual machine. Also, the lagging you see is not actually present, it is because of the screen recording software I'm using.
Slitaz Linux is only 30 Mb in size and installs in about 2~5 minutes.
You can get Slitaz from:

Thanks for watching!

  • One thing that hurt is no flv files or mp4 files runs under slitaz otherwise it can do everything

  • @karan2011in Are you sure there is no app in the repositories to play these files? Try looking for VLC.

  • @halabihazem dude i m using it from 6 months n i m really sure. hope they solve it in cooking mods

  • @karan2011in try this command:

    tazpkg get-install vlc

  • @halabihazem is it working for you ?? coz in my stable 3.0 there was no decoder to decode flv files

  • @karan2011in Check the Slitaz forums, I'm pretty sure they know the answer. I can't help because I'm on OS X now :(

Let me know if you find the answer.

    Good luck!

  • @halabihazem ya i already tried vlc n xine or mpd with no success

  • @damasta00138 Slitaz rules.

My booting time on slitaz is 6 sec.

  • @cryptikonline I don't really know the technical details [I wish I could], but the Slitaz website has a cookbook that shows you how the entire thing is structured and how to build it yourself. I honestly wish I could create my own distro like you did, but I simply don't know where to get that knowledge from. I tried building my own LFS but I stopped near the end because it became way too hard for me to learn anything from it. I wish I can one day create my own Slitaz version...

  • Another thing I'm very curious about: could it be booting more quickly here because it's in a virtual machine? I've actually seen similar things happen before, possibly because the lack of "real" hardware to probe and wait on. My curiosity is going to kill me...
