Well, personally, I don't think you should be reviewing the movie until you read the graphic novel, because it's every bit as good as people say it is. Other than that, I'll be putting this on my list of reviews to avoid.

I didn't I'm just making a point. I do that hoping somebody will read it and.... I don't know, into it with a different mindset.
-
Exactly, Im talking about how did you pull that from his review?
-
"Shouldn't disdain" meaning they should go see it despite the differences from the graphic novel.
-
Kiaser do you have mental issues? where did you come to a conclusion of not seeing this movie because it's different??
-
I loved the movie, I walked out of the cinema saying it was quite good and over time I like it more and more, I was never bored with the movie I was entertained and I've never read the grapic novel.

Noted, however the point I was really trying to make is that people really shouldn't disdain from seeing it just because its different, the movie did do a great job in providing background and thus reading the graphic novel is not really needed but it just gives people a better idea of what it is.
For someone who claims to be a movie man, you sure don't research your stuff very well.

Any movie based on any other medium should be able to stand on its own without having to have read or seen the original material. As stated below, it isn't necessary for other films based on other material. I did plenty of research prior to seeing this movie...I researched which theatre it was at and what time it was playing. That's all that's required.

Really the thing is, is that if you know where this movie is coming from and that it is not your run of the mill super-hero movie you'll love it, but for a majority of people expecting a funny book movie they didn't know where it was coming from and thus hated it. LOOK UP BACKGROUND PEOPLE!!!!!!!!

As I've stated before, on this and other reviews, it shouldn't be a requirement to be fluent in Watchman lore before you see the movie. It wasn't a requirement for Batman Begins or Superman Returns or Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone or any other movie based on a graphic novel, comic book, novel or short story. Many fans of the Watchmen graphic novel had issues with the movie. It is just a fair to average movie and nothing more.

Have to say...this movie really is hard to understand without reading the story beforehand. But, if you know the story, it is AWESOME!

I had no problem following the story, just the characters motivations at times for their actions. It shouldn't be a requirement for a movie based on a book or graphic novel or any other medium to have read the original material first. The point of making a book a movie is to translate one form of expression into another in an understandable way. Otherwise, you're taking a test like in English Literature class. It should have been less faithful to the book and more audience friendly.
