that was the greatest present ole santy claus ever left under our tree. We were a poor appalachian farm family and to this day I don't know how my father afforded it. My brothers and I spent hours playing with it and then had to wait weeks to be able to get new batteries. Who woulda thought that a family with an outhouse could own a helicopter? Today I am a retired Army helicopter pilot as a result of the dream that this little toy inspired . Thanks Mom, Dad, and Mattel!!
I remember this toy with much affection too (I'm a similar age) - it was simply fantastic - I also had the yellow Airfix Super Flight Deck too - that was also brilliant. Scouring ebay to get them to show my kids who seem to have everything and 'have nothing according to them!'
I had one too. This was sometime back in the 1970's. It was one of my most cherished toys. A friend came over and started playing with it and soon broke it. Boyd did that day suck.
THIS WAS INDEED ONE OF MY MOST CHERISD MEMORIES. A CHRISTMAS MEMORY I WILL NEVER FOR GET. I WAS TEN, AND MY DAUGHTER WILL HAVE HER TENTH CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR.
