This is a good example of how slow and exhausting breaking trail through 42" of fresh snow can be. This was shot March 1st on the the "Outer loop trail" from "The Yurt" back to Snow Park 2 on the Mount Tahoma Trail's Association (MTTA) trail network near Mt Rainier. After an un-planed 2nd night at the yurt, we finally made it back to the car on Tuesday. It took 8 hours to travel 5 miles, 1.8 of which was tracked from the day before.

  • Our group left The Yurt just a week before you in fresh snow . . .albeit only 8 inches. Your experience was not far from my mind when I listened to the snow sliding off of the canvas the night before we skied out. I've never seen snow fall like that, ever.
