On the day of the ITV franchise awards, which were to determine the fate of the ITV companies who would run the network from 1982 onwards, Westward deliberately schedules a drama starring John Thaw and Paul Darrow who head an all-star cast in this tale of adventure and intrigue following the battle of the Spanish Armada in 1588 on Plymouth Sound, and is shown across the ITV network, but to make matters worse, news that Westward, along with Southern, had learnt that their franchise would not be renewed and that ATV would be restructured to become Central Television in its dual region in the midlands. Here is an interval, containing tracks from Belle Canon, which accompany the backdrop of Plymouth Hoe. Enjoy!!!!
the production of the program became TSW in 1982, the channel kept LWT's License until 2002.

Um, actually the movie is about the circumnavigation, which took place in 1577-80. Of course cwilliams1976 is not to be blamed since the announcer says it's about the Spanish Armada also...as well as saying it's an "adventurous tale of adventure and intrigue." Perhaps she was distraught over the fate of ITV.
BTW, the movie is actually very good.
