In October, São Paulo becomes the Automobile Capital of the World, and welcomes thousands of enthusiasts of speed and four wheels. The city will set the stage for two major events in the sector, which will take place simultaneously: the 35th Formula 1 Grand Prix Brazil, held at the Interlagos Racetrack on 22nd October, and the 24th Salão Internacional do Automóvel motor show, at the Anhembi, from 19th to 29th of the same month.
And this year's event will be even more special. 2006 marks 50 years since the introduction of the automobile industry in Brazil, a fact which deserves special highlight in this year's motor show. Another factor which will mark the month of October for car racing is the fact that Michael Schumacher, supreme record holder for victories on the racetracks, has announced that this will be his last season in F1, and the Interlagos race will bring his career to a close.
