@granskare Tempelhof is not demolished. The terminal building will be converted into a museum, however, the runways and taxiways will be removed.

@granskare no it hasnt been demolished, its open for the public and is to become a park and recreation/leisure area for the berlin people. it cant be demolished, i think it is a historic building and thereby protected by law...

my only flight in and out of west Berlin was by way of Templehof...in 1960....and so I imagine that great place has been demolished to make way for 'developers' to make money.

Wohl kaum, im Jahr 2013 -dem ersten vollen Betriebsjahr von BER- werden fast 25.000.000 Pax erwartet, da wird DUS noch nicht einmal die 20 Millionen-Marke überschritten haben!

Bravo! I remember when Schoenefeld was a sleepy backwater where East Germans, Czechs and Romanians were drinking brandy at the bar at 10:00, waiting for their Ilyusians and Tupolevs... but, I will miss Tegel!

I have mixed feelings about this project. Obviously Tegel is at if not beyond capacity, but I love how small Tegel is. Where else can you see your gate from the front entrance?

@Stoned1959 ...Über die Leute in Tegel und Tempelhof verliert niemand ein Wort. Die können ab Juni 2012 endlich wieder ihre Gärten ohne Ohrenstöpsel betreten. Und der BBI steht direkt neben Schönefeld. Es ist ja nicht so als wenn da noch nie Flugzeuge langgeflogen sind.

Unsere "Flughäfen" sind VIEL zu klein und liegen mitten in der Stadt .Vieles gibts unnötig doppelt. Die Nahverkehranbindung ( wenn man das so nennen kann) ist eine Katastrophe in Schönefeld. In Tegel MÜSSTEN eigentlich Wohnungen stehen ( von denen es zu wenig hier gibt). Beide Flughäfen genügen bei weitem heutigen Ansprüchen NICHT. Es ist auch billiger einmal neu zu bauen als zweimal zu renovieren und zu erweitern.

Nein, Düsseldorf wird nach der Eröffnung des BBI trotzdem noch größer sein.
