From Suez to Guz - via Gibraltar (with a day trip to Tangier, and a bull fight in La Linea), a storm in Biscay and the calm after it as we arrive in Plymouth.

  • Do you know If Lt Robin Wigg (Alfie) was a pilot on this ship at this time ?

  • why add spanish music on the gibraltar scene seeing that it was and still is british military base.a dissapointed gibraltarian

  • Just love that catapult test rig launch, god I bet they had a few "volunteers" to fly that!!

  • La Linea sticks in my mind because of the three times I was in Gib twice I was too drunk and the other was when the border was closed. I was down the Falklands on Invincible. Just started 2 weeks leave and got recalled. Down April back in September.

  • and brilliant video btw - thanks for posting.

  • Funny you should mention La Linea - i was getting my haircut in La Linea when the Falklands broke out. I was on Broadsword and had to double back on board. I remember La Linea was a walk across the runway at Gib and before long you were in a Spanish town, complete with bullring.

  • Ah memories, did the same trip from Far East to Guzz on the Ark in 1966.Where our Squadron of 16 Scimitars disbanded. First and last time Far East. Didn't make it to La Linea, I fell by the wayside !!!

  • What was that on the catapult? Really good film, just needs re-doing with the telecine for clarity. Thanks

  • Tony, fantastic clips of the Ark, this one and the others. I shall pass them onto my father. He was on the Ark in 78, but was out in Singers on the Vic in the 60's.

    Thanks again! Sketchy.
