The timeless Christmas classic from Raymond Briggs, about a little boy who builds a snowman that takes him on a magical adventure one snowy night.
This version is slightly different to the original version in that David Bowie introduces us to the story instead of the original footage and voiceover by Raymond Briggs. It was first shown on British television on Channel 4 late on Christmas Eve in 1982 and was an immediate success. The title song is called 'Walking in the Air' and was originally sung by Peter Auty. Aled Jones also covered the song, the single of which reached number 5 in the UK charts. Jones is often wrongly assumed to have sung the song in the film.

Watched The Snowman tonight, first time seeing it in years. Cried my eyes out at the end, I never, ever cry. It was so sad. I could remember being a kid when I first watched it. Memories flooding back.
