A good steady vibrato can usually make any instrument sound decent. But some instruments are just NOT easy to play. You don't always have to spend a lot of money for a good one but taking the time to try out a bunch and pick one that sounds right and that you enjoy playing is a good idea. This Viola is from Hong Kong and only cost me about $500 but I love the deep sound.
