Kudzu, It's a green solution that could wean us off our dependency on oil. A fuel source that is cheap, is easy to find and, as we have just learned, can produce ethanol, the same ethanol that we now produce using a lot more corn. Kudzu needs nothing to grow no planting, no fertilizer, no irrigation. Thats obvious considering its pseudonym is the plant that ate the South.Researchers found the root carries over 2/3 of the carbs by weight, and they estimate kudzu could produce 2.2 to 5.3 tons of carbs per acre. This translates to 270 gallons of ethanol per acre, comparable to the ethanol yield of corn - which isn't saying much considering corn is on the low end of the energy yield spectrum. That in itself tells me that some big moves to use corn was done to sway away from using alternative fuels altogether. But when the economy dipped, the car & oil overlords lost their grip on us. So hopefully we can now move in a realistic direction utilizing all alternative fuels.
I've experimented with producing a system for hydrogen on demand. It's easy to produce. The question remains in my research, can you produce enough in one vehicle to run it solely on hydrogen? I've seen videos where vehicles are running on what they say is hydrogen, but I've also seen people use a 9 volt battery to run a large TV, That ain't happenin. The kudzu plant originated in Asia, but some genius brought it over from Japan in 1876, promoting it as a potential food crop. Soon the government was planting it all over the place to reduce soil erosion. Love bugs were brought over too, Can't remember the reason, but they took over in the South and it keeps car painting companies in business. It turns out that the weather in the southeastern United States is like steroids for kudzu. It turns out that a lot of people are opposed to to using kudzu because of its uncontrollable nature. Once it grows, it's hard to stop. News Report by Brian Williams
