No it was Paul Thomas Anderson's alter ego.

He does those movies to let out his wild side and to make the crap he can't make usually.

No, P.T. Anderson hasn't done anything of 2001 Space Odyssey caliber yet. And he hasn't done anything to totally shake the foundation like Clockwork Orange or Dr. Strangelove.

Give him more time and we'll see but I don't think he's comparable yet. He's a legend but he's not mythical quite yet.

I dunno. I think some people dismiss modern filmmakers because they're exactly that, modern. I guess in 25 years PTA can be appreciated as much as Kubrick is now. In fairness well anything ever be on an even keel with with 2001? lol

I agree. PTA is very, very good but he is also pretty derivative of a lot of other directors. Which isn't a negative in and of itself, but Kubrick made brilliant films that were also true originals. To be honest, the only modern American director I would call a genius on the level of Kubrick is Aronofsky. PTA may well be there someday though.

PTA's seating position reminds me of an old Crowley photo.

I really hope he doesn't wait another five years until his next film.

Then again, if the end result is anywhere near as good as Blood, it'll be worth the wait
