HIGH DEF VERSION

Ottawa's Beaver Pond Forest.

This cannot be Canada, nor can it be the great City of Ottawa, Canada - for if it was, then this would surely not be happening. But it is...so we need your help stop it. This is an old-growth forest with 20 species at risk, only 20 minutes from Parliament Hill. But even worse than that, there is a complete disrespect of the Algonquin First Nation from our government officials as the Algonquin are speaking as one voice and asking for a proper archaeological study of the Beaver Pond Forest - a region which was their homeland 500 generations ago and longer. We are failing them considering there is three potential native sites that may be 9000 years old here. Forget our own willingness to ignore what is without question the most bio-diverse are of Ottawa. Why are we doing this to them? Why are we not protecting this land? In 100 years, no one will say what a nice subdivision we have. They will have even forgotten what is here today and what may be gone in two weeks. Why does Canada's National Capital Commission pretend they need to sit in the offices and ignore 10,000 people? Why does Ottawa's Mayor, the Premier and others with the power to halt this destruction continue to do nothing?

Stop them.

When I was young, I could never imagine ever having the opportunity to save something so precious...yet do nothing.

  • I <3 The BeaverPond. Ottawa please DON'T PAVE PARADISE!

  • Thank you for all you are doing to help preserve this beautiful sacred site.

After all this time we know one thing for sure..as soon as its touched by a bulldozer it is then changed forever.Speaking from a state that has 2% of the land untouched by man.The few places where old growth tree's are untouched so rare now. This subdivision also threatening a Native cultural hertitage site, both are one and the same, priceless diversity, ways of life,a World heritage.

Good wisdom of the Elders spoken.
