@pat20105 eh' it's called "dim screen" and it's for saving power on some laptops. Unfortunatelly your laptop is not good enough to resist with dim screen, i had the same problem. Just write on a sheet of paper the codes i give you. Try to type your password even if it's dark [notice that caps lock is not "automagically" pressed] and then press enter, after that press ctrl + alt +t and it will open the terminal. Next thing you should is just to type " sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=01 "...
