Officially the prettiest tune known to man (as voted by me) Please, please... please listen to the original on the Cornbread album by the great Lee Morgan. It features some lovely work all round. You can find it here on youtube, just do a search. Hank Mobley takes a wonderful solo. so ignore my attempt. If nothing else I my have introduced this tune to some who have not heard it before. You can download a pdf of the melody of this tune here :http://www.cornwallmusicservice.com

just go to improvisation, the look for the jazz standards, it has this in concert, Bb and Eb. This is a great website, but I am not affiliated in anyway

The backing here is provided by Hal Leonard's real book playalongs ( available on amazon worldwide)

  • Very nice playing, and clean recording. Always good to hear this tune played well.

  • Thanks, that means a lot coming from a great musician like yourself.

  • As usual, incredible everything. I was going to say incredible tone but highlighting one thing might undermine that you're doing everything else perfectly as well. I have to ask, why did you remove some of your older videos? Some really nice ones, too.

  • Hi Jamie, I just was not happy with some of them anymore, its just natural progression really. I also got a lot of critical comments from people who could not be bothered to check out more recent stuff. Thanks for the very kind comments, much appreciated

  • Today was my first day at school after the summer holidays :-( What a nice surprise to enjoy another fine performance of a wonderful tune :-) Thank you, Matthew!

  • Cheers Ulli, nice to hear from you. It took 2 weeks of my family holiday just to learn this head, now that's what I call a tune!

  • I enjoyed the head very much!

  • Abosulutely gorgeous rendition.

Mobley did not do any better.

  • Great playing, great sound, great, great, great!!! Thanks!

  • what kind of microphone is that??

  • Wonderful! This is a version which makes the tune all the more beautiful and 'prooves', if you like, its quality. Fantastic, laid back timing and soulful soloing.

  • What a beautiful play!!

I'm studying this tune right now (on soprano), I'm gonna hear your version many times :D

  • The Bossa Nova influence of the early 60's comes shining through like a beacon. It could have been written by Jobim if I didn't know better. Nice job! You put a lot of high-quality stuff on YouTube! Thanks from all of us sax-loving musicians and music lovers out here in the Ether!

  • A lil' Tubby Hayes in that low end there- I LIKE IT :)

  • Dude, you sound better than you think. Also, yes, this IS the prettiest tune of all times.

  • nice tone, nice concept & vibe! Exactly what I like to hear on a tenor solo of Ceora!
