The First Edition started doing this in 1975 live with Mary Arnold on lead and Anne Murray cut it in 1976 so Elvis could have heard it easily

@pokololop I agree :) And even though the song was originally written about Waylon Jennings, I think the lyrics can as well be applied to Elvis. "You're still a hell of a singer but a broken man" - very touching.
