  • i seriously hate the feel and sound of a CVT ... most Nissans have them and it can become very annoying - i understand the concept and reasons for the CVT, but as a car enthusiast just can't stand them

  • @disengagejam I hear you, but CVT will become more main stream, a few years ago in car review it was all about the engine capacity, Bhp and how the car was to drive, now car reviews focus on emissions and fuel economy. for us petrol heads there is no replacement for displacement.

  • @croissantmania im trying to understand that myself. i thought of two ways, it could be electronic control or the faster the cvt or gear its spinning it move up to higher gear. its very nice feature.

  • What triggered the chain/belt to move?

  • My old Honda Fit has it and just love it! I'm looking for a new car w/ a CVT....

  • BUY A CAR WITH A MANUAL GEAR BOX!

  • I had a cone type cvt setup on one of my mouse trap cars for school, I didnt have enough time to refine it, but when I had the wheels spinning off the ground it worked great, I just couldnt get the ruber band tight enough for it to move itself..I figured it wouldnt work, but i wanted to try.

  • @kingjimsixsix5 I have to disagree with you:CVT is a thing that can be considered a side line in modern transmission development since DSG transmissions have been developed. No high pressure oil needed and no hp/torque limit as well.

  • @kingjimsixsix5 The less displacement the better. Small displacement high efficiency makes more sense than high displacement low efficiency.

  • the cvt was meant for hybrids. nissans and some 2005 fords have them even though there not hybrid.

  • @disengagejam CVT's and rotary engines are better in terms of engineering/science principles than standard transmissions and piston engines. So why are they dominant? We have used them for long after they dominated the market (due to historical reasons) that it is very difficult as you say, to change to something that is "wierd". I do own a car with CVT. CVT was not part of the buying decision but it was very wierd (at the begging) to get used to a car that does not give you gear shock.
