@oederdekoe With more than 180km/h, engine should fall asleep at 140 :)))) Oil service for new duke and smc-r at 10.000km with the same old engin, ok 50cmc bigger but the same engine, so i am pretty sure ktm when they put maintenance every 5k km was bulshitting us trying to catch more money for something almost useless....imho but otherwise why first duke 690 oil at every 5.000km, duke r every 7500km and now with crisis,ktm to sell more, lowered price and oil every 10k km ?!?
@oederdekoe Ah good thanks ! good to know you do not feel the lack of power/you do not miss more power, that's my fear :). I had a yama fazer 1000 :). Easier to hande, i believe it easily, but much more fun than an r1 ?!? Really ?
@oederdekoe Really ? Coz it does about 180-185km/h so I thought no problem to stay about 150-160km/h for 15-20 minutes. When I had 15 years ago honda xr600 with max speed of 140km/h, I stayed a lot on 130km/h without problems, but ok xr has an engine less powerful, probably it lasts longer too.
I wouldnt ride it to much on the freeway ;) its not made for that :P 120/kmh is do able but everything faster than that, starts the engine to scream :P
If u ride a lot on the freeway a 990 would be better :)

If I was u, I would testdrive the 690smc and the 990 :-)
Then u'll be sure what u really want :)
I drove an R1 before the 690 and I still dont have any regret of lowering the power :)
Ktm is so much more fun and easier to handle :D

Hmmm @ 120km/h ur doin about 5000rpm :)
I've read on forums that some people drove like u said for 15min @ 140km/h and they said it wasnt a problem :)
I never tested it out :p I love my KTM to much :D
topspeed is indeed about 180km/h :-)
Maintenance is every 5000km/h but I try to do it every 3500km :)

@oederdekoe That's what i want to do too, using it daily and tha'ts why i won't buy a smr990, it drinks more fuel than a fish drinks water :)
