Well done: a baggot was also taken on opening day on the Helmsdale Wednesday 11th January. While the Tay opens on January 15th, Scottish salmon angling got underway last week on January 11th on Helmsdale and Thurso further north. Check out my videos on Helmsdale 2011 and 2012 openings - and the great 20 pounder at Kenmore caught and released on opening day last year: incidently fishing was free to visitors for the first four days on the Helmsdale.
