It's not really a set pattern, so I'm not sure what its called, if it has a name. I'm just trying to keep a solid hi-hat beat with a 3-bass drum beat on the tail end of each phrase.
My kit is a Mapex Saturn Pro Series
I use Aquarian Performance II tom and bass drum heads. You can tune them at any tension.
I'm actually not using microphones at all, just the video recorder (Flip Ultra HD) mic.
I plan on using shure sm57 mics in future recordings.
