This video has two opposite opinions about school uniforms. I made this video to use with my Clear Argument lesson which can be downloaded from eslprintables.com.
School uniforms sets a equal expectation for every one in school, it diffuses the poverty barrier of appearances and helps to reinforce having pride in our school and the community while following the school rules. Clothes do not represent our personalities, they are merely an artificial reflection (Its like saying badly dressed people have/are expressing bad personalities etc which is ridiculous). I've never heard of name-tags on school uniforms at all, so that's a very odd irrelevant point...
yeah i hear where you're coming from, but my school takes it way too far, we don't have a nice uniform thing going but we do have a very strict dress code, I really got written up because my collard shirt had a few stripes, and again because the shoes were offensive, we don't have uniforms, but that would be better then the crap we have now!!!
But a school uniform (which is usually clothes that aren't machine washable) require a much more pricey washing, which hurts familys budget for the student and for themselves, also a uniform forces kids to not be able to have free expression and denies there constitutional rites, therefor uniforms are bad.
School uniforms may keep people from making fun of their clothes, but now we have more time to make fun of the way their face looks :D
