Oh the wind blows the leaves from the trees then blows them upon the stream
Then the stream flows to river and the river then flows to the sea
That's where I'll be

The moon glows over the ocean controlling the sea
This boat I sail, won't handle the storm, I think we might go down
I hope I'm wrong

Take me back to the fields of green, lay beside me by the stream
Take me back to the riverside, I hope that we can make it out alive
Make it out alive.

Video clips from the documentary 'Deep Water' and by myself.

Deep Water is based on the true story of Donald Crowhurst and the 1969 Sunday Times Golden Globe Race round the world alone in a yacht.

Donald Crowhurst (19321969) was a British businessman and amateur sailor who died while competing in the Sunday Times Golden Globe Race, a single-handed, round-the-world yacht race. Crowhurst had entered the race with the yacht Teignmouth Electron in hopes of winning a cash prize from the Sunday Times to aid his failing business. Instead, he encountered difficulty early in the voyage, and secretly abandoned the race while reporting false positions, in an attempt to appear to complete a circumnavigation without actually circling the world. Evidence found after his disappearance indicates that this attempt ended in insanity and suicide.

  • I love the words on this one. The footage is beautiful I haven't seen Deep Water. You stuff has a lovely melancholic, yet breezy feel to it - a heady mix indeed.

  • a fantastic song, My own band have a song inspired by the Donald Crowhurst voyage. There is something very enigmatic and deeply tragic about the whole story.

  • His boat looked strong enough...

  • G.Day Matt, it just doesn't get any better than this, congratulations. FIVE HUGE STARS mate, Rabbie Australia.
