@danijeljames But then again if there is no pearls its not really bubble tea because the pearls are the main idea so if you don't add the pearls would that take the main idea away. Other wise wouldn't it just be cold tea with sugar?

i got 2 questions...
1. do you HAVE to use the pearls or can you just drink it without the pearls?
2. can you use a blender? or does it have to be a shaker??

@AkiraChanXX no problems, let me answer that for you;
1. You don't have use pearls. I know some people that would refuse to drink it if there were pearls in their drinks. Some people find the texture rather "off putting". I love tapioca pearls.
2. The reason they use a shaker is to "softly blend" the mixture together. An electric blender would be OK, but if you could make them both side-by-side, you would instantly notice the difference in taste. Just stir it around with a whisk in a jug.
