Play humanises Middle East conflict - 13 Dec 2008

While politicians struggle to make peace, the human cost of the Middle East conflict is the subject of a play which is proving hugely popular in Israel.

"The Return to Haifa" tells the story of a Palestinian family whose son is adopted by a Jewish couple when they are forced to leave Haifa during the 1948 war.

Aljazeera's Adam Pines reports on the impact the play stirred amongst its viewers.

I think most Israelis are actually more willing to discuss just peace than most americans because they have to live day in, day out with the fallout from this conflict. They have to deal with the traffic jams when the soldiers block off a major road due to a bomb scare, they have to go to the schools that might be hit by rockets, they have to join the military that is put in harm's way by this bloodshed. If the US moved its Israel policy a few steps to the left, Israel would gladly follow.

Al Jazeera - the worst propaganda machine in this modern age. They are a mouthpiece for al Qaeda and have been frequently described as "killers with cameras." Al Jazeera is nothing but an anti-semitic propaganda arm of the Muslim Brotherhood. Arabs fled before the war - urged on by their bretheren to allow for the total liquidation of the Jewish presence. This disgraceful station peddles in nothing but lies. We are working diligently to make sure it is declared illegal in the States.

You can rationalize anything. If they aren't jews what in the hell are they? As far as the USA being a critic .... many of the U.N. resolutions are only opposed by the USA and the Marshall Islands.
