If the guard had the gate closed before the attack, why didn't he close it again after everyone was back in? Wouldn't that make more sense than leaving the entire town vulnerable? Wtf is with generic guards and their low IQs?

Even though I was good, before killing that thing the first time you can steal that shop empty without anyone seeing you. Gives you some nice items to sell and it's only 8 evil points per steal so.. not a lot.
