May 6th 2011 there was a fly in at Avi Suquilla Airport P20 in Parker Arizona for all the volunteers who fly blood for United Blood Services. My friend Dean does these flight's in his 1946 Cessna 140 and invited me along for the trip.
In Part one here we taxi to the runway, go through the run up, get clearance to take off and make are way West.
Check out part 2 for more enroute flight and the landing at P20

  • my father owned this VERY plane. It was based at Vandenburg Airport in Tampa Florida. I grew up falling asleep staring out the window of this same airplane. We flew it to Oshkosh and Sun in Fun many a time. I am now 35. He and my mother flew on their honeymoon in it. Beautiful paint job! He painted it like a cub and the next owner did a military paint job on it. Thank you for the post! She is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • @joeygaspar Wow that's incredible. What years do you think he owned it? I'll have to tell Dean my friend who is one of the owners now. It's him and two others that own it now and have for many years.

  • Ask Dean what engine he has in his 140. I LOVE the sound of that thing.

  • @bradc314 Yeah it sounds cool. It's a Continental O-200 100HP

  • What was the deal when Paul was holding his hands over the dash? Was he showing the stability of the plane?

Also, does Paul have a web site that details his 140 and everything he's done to it?

  • @TheChrisMuncy His name is Dean and we were talking about how nice the plane trims out and he was showing me how if you lean forward and put your hands over the dash that it changes the CG enough to start a slight decent. We started decending about 100ft /min.

No website about the plane unfortunately.
