Whats funny about this version is that it is only a bit harder because of the D-Pad(replacing the Analog Stick) and the R-Button(replacing the Z-Button). The added features are awesome though, it makes this the best of the remakes (The Super Mario Advance series was good, but they added little and the E-Reader feature sucks)

@moviereviews4life Agreed. The change in controls can be a bit off putting. I think the extra threshold in the game makes up for it a little.

The extras are pretty expansive which is a big draw to this game. Most remakes add little and can be interpreted as money grabs. SM64DS is a solid buy for owners of the original and new comers alike.

The SMB3 GBA game had pretty extensive extras if you had all the E-Reader cards-- but like you expertly pointed out: that thing sucked big time.

@SlightlyAmiss Speaking of off-putting controls, I'm playing Super Mario 64 (N64 version) on an emulator on a MacBook Pro. The arrow keys are very small and since Lakitu never films the right thing I'm having to stop to press buttons on the other side of the keyboard. And don't get me started about air and water control...

Thats the thing I have yet to own an E-Reader, the thing that makes me not do it is the fact you need separate cards, I mean why didn't they just make an add on that gave you the extra features. The worse gimmick since Virtual Boy(although Wario Land for VB was good)

step into those little holes in teh walls on the mounting and stand at the very back of the hole and it will teleport you to the top
