  • Sounds like Waters, Gilmour and then Harper for the 'riding the gravy train' bits.

  • Everyone is dead wrong. Gilmour does not sing at any point in this version. It is Roger Waters and Roy Harper. The final album version is Roy Harper.

  • I do like the instrumental version of the original album version better; but I do wish that Roger had sung it. He did a fine job of singing this song on one of his recent tours. I always thought it was a real shame that this band never did a reunion tour.

  • Sounds better with Roy. Rogers insane voice works better with shine on.

  • Yes its Roger Waters singing i also have the album

  • Oh this is definatly in my opinion the best version. Its just so cool sounding, spacy like & his voice is well cool

  • I don't know it sounds too 'wally' for me, kind of like empty spaces. I've always loved the Roy Harper version, and still do.

  • @glacier1982 That's because Gilmour strings his solos together, he noodles and whistles and then puts it together....and that's the solo we hear...this is him noodling out ideas.

  • Whether or not it's Harper or Gilmour in the background, one thing is for sure; Waters is obviously singing. The description is wrong.

  • Way better than the original. I've always thought that Roger should have sang it on the album. He sounds way better on some live versions, though unfortunately I guess he threw his voice out a bit singing shine on so the story goes. I still think he should have given his voice time to rest & sang it on the album though..

  • Gilmour seems lost during the solo. Never knew him to be so unsure about his playing, but here he plays like a shy second-year guitarist. The album solo is vastly better.

  • The original uploader of this video ought to fix the description.

This track is on the Wish You Were Here: Experience edition that I've got, and the liner notes clearly state (as if just hearing the voice wasn't enough) that Roger Waters sings vocals here.

Not that any PF fan would need the liner notes to tell them that, however...
