Driving coach gives pointers for increasing the pair's "impulsion" and getting them to work more in unison. Owner is learning how to drive the horses forward into the bit and then he is able to have more rein contact. Urging them forward while keeping them lightly in check with the reins encourages the horses to use their hind ends more strongly to propel themselves forward. As that happens, the horses' backs and necks round and they begin to stretch their heads forward and down, thus moving in a better "frame." This way of working improves the horses as athletes; the same principles apply as in ridden dressage.

4 year (brown bay) and 6 year old (the black) Arabian/percheron geldings have 2 years experience in low-level pleasure driving on roads and trails, now starting to fine-tune their way of going. Put to an Eagle combo carriage, at Trinity Stables in Canterbury, NH. Many more videos of these horses and others on my Channel!
