The 2011 Kennedy Center Honors were bestowed on five giants from the world of the arts -- not just for a single role or a certain performance, but for a lifetime of greatness. The recipients, Yo Yo Ma, Meryl Streep, Barbara Cook, Neil Diamond and Sonny Rollins, were honored at the White House in early December.

The hateful, sad, moronic, insecure, damaged posters below demonstrate so clearly both the maddening yet glorious rights we have in this country. When reading such vitriol and ignorant thinking, it's easy to want such people rounded up and quarantined so that our world would be a much safer, smarter and loving place to live. But then I remind myself of the pleasure it is to live in a place where free speech is a right.

Let's just hope such people don't vote (or leave their homes).
