A tribute to the Soldiers of the American Civil War, both North and South. Their reconciliation created a new bond and made our country even greater!

@musketman58 My great grandfather was one of the very few CSA soldiers who escaped from Camp Butler. He was captured at the Battle of Island Number 10 and sent to Camp Butler. He escaped by swimming across a river and he walked back to Alabama. He eventually joined the 8th Confederate Cavalry and fought into 1865. My grandfather was born in 1868 and they both moved to Texas after the war. I am proud to be a grandson and great grandson of these two.

Awesome tribute to the brave men on both sides of that terrible conflict. My great grandfather rode with Col. David Terry's Texas Cavalry, CSA, and my great great grandfather rode with Co. F, 25th Texas Cavalry, CSA. He's buried at Camp Butler, Illinois, where he died in April, 1863, after having been captured at Arkansas Post in January, 1863. He died of starvation and wounds. May God rest their souls.

What an absolutely moving tribute, I was in tears from the start to finish. I've been reading and studying the Civil War for over 25 years, I've never seen a better song for capturing and honoring the memory of the brave souls of both sides of that soul-wrenching conflict.
