TICA's guide to the Ragdoll breed explains "They are gentle cats, and usually play without extending their claws."

Here's a video taken just minutes ago of Colby enjoying his scratching post.

This video is in response to a self-described cat expert who insisted in a comment that because a video of mine showed Colby sliding all over a leather ottoman as a kitten, that he MUST have been declawed. I would never mutilate a cat by declawing (especially this expensive, sweet, docile, purebred cat.)

My video was posted on the Cheezburger channel here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usKncLBtbf0
and more recently on the icanhascheezburger site:

The following are the offensive YouTube comments I'm referring to:

If it's not declawed, why isn't it holding on the ottoman when it's jumping on it? With all due respect, I don't believe you. I've had cats all my life and I know very well what they do when they play, including kittens - grabbing with their claws onto that expensive looking furniture is the first thing they would do.

ukevergil- I share your disgust for declawing, but as I've mentioned previously, this cat is NOT declawed. He is simply young, energetic and clumsy. It's a shame you can't enjoy the antics of a cute kitten without assuming the worst.

Looks like it's declawed. What a barbaric, disgusting practice. Not funny video at all.

  • Wow.. dangg. thts a long namee lol

  • @DtGrL100 Purebred cats like this tend to include their cattery name in their registered name. Nat King Colby just seemed fun, but my wife really chose Colby from the tv show Survivor.

  • awee.. ohkayy.. i hadd a cat like that and I didn't know wht kind of cat he was. I thought he was mixed with something. lol.. What's his name ?

  • @DtGrL100

He's registered as AdorableDolls Nat King Colby, but simply Colby for short.

  • What kind of cat is he/her ?!?/

  • @DtGrL100 He's a Ragdoll.

  • ROFL if only more youtube trolls were put in their places congrats to you X10LUG both for exposing the troll and for having beautiful cats that are obviously well take care of : )

  • ohh.. i kindaa see what you mean lol.. Do you guys just call him Colby when your around the hosue ??

  • he grew nicely ^^ his head looks a lot like my Ragdoll but Colby's back is a lot darker.

Ive seen mine getting darker from about 14 weeks old to now (1 year and 10 months)

Only the look in the eyes (big and 'innocent') will never change XD

And whats the bull about declawing? just because those people were waiting for a big *POP* deflating thing and a flying cat? buy a balloon and a needle.. geez..

  • lol that girl must have felt so stupid after saying I"ve owned cats all my life so im amazing and all knowing blah blah blah. some girl did that to me once about cats and i schooled her, hahah all i could say to her after was FAIL!
