Even the name is controversial.

Some now say we should call it PTS. Some believe it is more correctly titled PTSD. The important thing is we need to talk about it, and de-stigmatize it.

We encourage anyone who may be experiencing difficulties to take advantage of the resources that are available. This is not a road you need to travel alone.

Patra Frame, a USAF veteran, recommends these resources:

Military OneSource for referrals and support services across a wide range of needs. They serve active duty, Guard/Reserves, families, and retirees. www.MilitaryOneSource.com; CONUS: 800.342.9647

Army OneSource for referrals and support services across a wide range of needs. They serve active duty, Guard/Reserves, and families. www.ArmyOneSource.com

Veterans Administration provides a wide range of services including medical care, job training, vets centers, crisis centers, and financial assistance and a mobile app, PTSD Coach. www.VA.gov/MyVA

Consumer information on a wide range of psychology issues -from sleeping problems to teen concerns to marital issues and many more topics are available from the American Psychological Association. www.APA.org/helpcenter
