This tune desperately requires orchestral vocals like the ones in them J.G. WentWorth commercials! I can practically hear the crying in here for one!

If you guys didn't notice, each of the songs in the game are themed after the seven deadly sins. This one is for Gluttony/Hunger. I think this theme fits for the feeling of extreme hunger/starvation.

a very anoying game

Just try and get this music out of a Genesis. I dare you.

The phenomenon isn't limited to videogames either; it's a marketing technique that's basically been lifted from the film industry (or the anime industry in Japan).

@Grimgerde you are indeed right with that, it's more often than not the pop artist that sells the game and not vice versa at times. Depending really, I still stand by my analysis from a year or so ago when I made these comments, most of these vocal themes are terrible, especially Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy X-2's.

Vocalized pop themes are what they call "middle brow." They're very accessible and easy to market.

I always, ALWAYS remember dying at around the 33 second mark. It's like I can never hear this song without hearing that "roooooooohh" that the Master made whenever he died. It's burned into my memory.

@CosmoBuggi Not just SNES, but 1993 SNES!

@CosmoBuggi Some music scores from SNES games pushed the sound chip to its very limits. ActRaiser 2 is one very noteworthy example.
God it's like I'm playing a movie.

Well, I wouldn't quite say that, there are still plenty of games out there with fantastic soundtracks, mostly anything composed by Motoi Sakuraba = pure gold, trust me on that one. Listen to Eternal Sonata and Infinite Undiscovery, both games have awesome soundtracks.
But what really gets my goat nowadays though, is that practically every RPG HAS to have a vocalized theme somewhere in the game, it bothers me to no end it does. Most of the songs suck too, Kingdom Hearts anyone?
