Cory Norlund, a person living with HIV, and his mother Diana Norlund discuss how their family dealt with the news that Cory was HIV positive. He and his mother now make individual or joint presentations about HIV/AIDS under the auspices of the not-for-profit organization He Intends Victory. See http://www.HeIntendsVictory.com/ for more information about Cory and Diana's educational outreach efforts. Visit http://www.GlobalLifeworks.org and http://AIDSvideos.org to learn more. • HIV (except in poor countries unfortunalety) doesn´t kill anybody. People with HIV can live a normal life right now unless that you don´t take your medications or you go to check late in very poor health .

  • Wrong. People (including in the developed world) still die of HIV infection all the time. ARVs reduce the risk of progression and death but don't guarantee a normal life for all people. Some people have or develop a resistant strain of HIV; others can't tolerate the side effects. Yes, getting diagnosed and treated early is important and ARVs help but HIV is still dangerous and still kills people every year!

  • Ok thanks ....Do you think condoms are a very safe way to protect ourselves , what do you think about possibilities to contract AIDS whit oral sex (without protection) or even with a simple french kiss,is there any risk?

  • See our videos "The Importance of Condom Compliance" and "Some Ways You Can Contract HIV and the Risk of Each One."

  • He took an action now he has to take the responsibilities. I don't feel sad one ounce for him, nor do I condemn him.

He better not spread it, that's all I have to say. Too bad so sad, no babies for you.

  • Actually, a technology called sperm washing (processing of the sperm to remove any HIV in the seminal fluid, plus artificial insemination of the woman) now enables an HIV+ man to get a woman pregnant without exposing her to any significant risk of contracting HIV.

  • i think you need to have more sex

  • God Bless you both. :)

  • This was so good, I couldn't help but cry. Because I wish I had parents like he has, Just normal parents, I had nothing wrong with me, But I was never loved.

  • @RSCII Aren't you missing the point? This isn't a soap opera 'story', this is real life. Not all 'fags' (to use your somewhat pejorative term) suffer from HIV, so they can't be 'cliche'. Nobody chooses to be 'gay' anymore than being 'straight'. At least have some modicum of sympathy for someone, it costs nothing.

  • @RSCII You know it can only take ONE time to be infected with HIV? You dont have to be promiscuous. One could get into a monogamous relationship while the other person is in the window period, thus they both test negative at that point because hiv has yet to show up in their system. Many people get infected this way.

  • I love this man ...

I want to get in touch with him ...

PLEASE help me ( us ) get in touch with him ...

  • Bless you and your family. No one wishes for this things but they do happen. Stay strong. God bless

  • Hi there, i am scared of HIV, and not ready for it. Recently, i had oral sex with someone that i didnt know and on the midlle of having oral sex he said he is a person with HIV. i felt the whole world turned upside down. So far, i didnt test yet but i will do soon. What i want to say is you are so lucky to have a very caring family. You must be very strong in your life. By that way nothing can stop you from enjoying your normal life. And also i hope the scientists can provide the vaccines soon.
